About a month ago I bought a new LCP and ran 300 rounds through the gun. I posted my initial results and thoughts and said I would do a follow up, so here it is. To recap, the lcp did not like the Fiochi ammo loaded with XTPs at all at the start of the first range sesion. The gun would even hang up with ball ammo occassionaly. At the end of those 300 rounds however it wasn't "jambing" with any ammo though it occassionally needed a bump with my offhand thumb to get it to return fully to battery. It had really imporoved over the course of those three hundred round so I decide, rather than sending it back, I would just clean it real well and polish the feed ramp a little. I also bought a second mag which I needed anyway. I got to the range yesterday with my daughter and while we only ran 75 rounds through it, it worked flawlessly. My daughter had a little problem with it at first but, once I corrected her grip, she was tearing ragged holes in the center of the paper, quickly.:D The gun is a keeper and I think I probably need to buy a second one cause this one is my daughters as soon as she turns 18. For now it is riding in my pocket.

I love mine, jammed once in the first 50 rounds. Then I sent it out for recall. Took it to the range when I got back and ran 250 rounds through it without a hitch. It in my pocket right now.

I used to love mine... sent it in for the recall to get the free magazine... a MONTH ago. Nothing has come back. I called last week and the lady said they had it, no ETA on the return.

After reading all these " I got mine back in a week" stories, I'm kind of PO'ed.

I absolutely love my (post recall) LCP. This little guy is a shooter, which was a complete surprise to me. I bought it with the idea that it was no more than a bely gun... What I got was a reliable little piece that can hold 5-inch groups at 20 yards.

I did do the obligatory ramp and throat polish after the first trip to the range. (initial slide rack would hang on the round.) After the fluff and buff this little LCP has been flawless, with the exception of a few 3-point hangs on crappy Remington UMC ammo.

LCP meals to date:

WWB 95gr - 150 rounds (100% reliable)
PMC Gold Starfire - 80 rounds (100% reliable)
Aguila 95gr FMJ - 100 rounds (100% reliable)
S&B 92gr FMJ - 50 rounds (100% reliable)
Speer Gold-Dot - 50 rounds (100% reliable)
Federal Hydra-Shock - 20 rounds (100% reliable)
Remington UMC 95gr - 50 rounds (90% reliable)

Thank You for all the great info. I just bought the Ruger LCP yesterday at Bass Pro Shop for $299. (Indiana store)

I did buy a box of Remington UMC 95 gr, but I think I will put them away until I get several other rounds through it. (after the previous post)

I will probably shoot Wednesday for the first time, and will post back then.

I went to my dealer the Monday after the shot show to tell her about the LCP and had her order one for me immediately. It still took several weeks to get it but she did sell me her first on for 269 I believe. I think she charges more for the rest she ordered but that is what they are bringing so I don't really blame her.

When they do something with the sights I'll think about getting one. Since Ruger likes to pair up with other companies for things (example: Federal .327) it shouldn't be difficult for them to get a hold of XS sights and get a sized down rear sight to go with the standard sized front dot. Or any other company. Until then I wouldn't have one without a laser and really not at all since I need to have a set of sights that can be relied on at night. With the LCP/Keltec that's not possible. Only gripe I have about them.

I was surprised how little my LCP recoiled in comparision to other .380s I've shot (Sig P230, Walther PPK). This thing is remarkable.

Im trying to hold out for the 9mm version:evil:. Once that comes out ill fork over the money and get one, but I dont want to add another caliper.

What a Refreshing Thread!!

Not a single bash!!!!! Unbelievable!!!!!

I bought mine last summer and also love it. Now I can't shoot dimes from the hip at fifty yards with it.......well, come to think of it, I can't do that with my PT1911SS either. Sent mine in over the holidays and so far nothing. But I suspicion those people at Ruger enjoy time off the same as everyone else so it's no big deal. While it's gone, I have six other pistols as "back ups" so I'm not crying crocodile tears......

By the way, I carry mine in a Nemesis (sp?) pocket holster and forget it there. I'm not sure how good a defense piece the .380 is but if the sound of ignition has anything to do with it, it'd blow a 12" hole in the side of an elephant!!! I do know I don't want to be on the receiving end even if I had an Eddie Bauer Goose down parka on my carcus! Carry a CW45 most of the time and use the LCP as a backup but it's with me 24/7 where the CW45 isn't.......

XDshooter - Crimson Trace makes a laser. I don't know where the money will come from, but it's on my list somewhere behind finishing the chimney, painting the Jeep, installing new patio doors and oh, finding a new job.

Sights on the LCP are pretty minimal, but at ranges of less than 6 feet it's hard to miss not even using sights. For those who shoot those funny square targets with the extra bump on top, it seems to stay in the black.

Now, back when I shot the little round targets grouped ten to a sheet at 50 feet, not so much. That's a real world test of street accuracy.

That laser should do it.

I'm planning to pick up a 371-series LCP very soon.

It seems almost as pocketable as my P-32, but with better quality construction and a good step up in power.

When I'm in the market for a pocket gun it looks like it will either be the LCP or a snubby. I'm leaning more towards the LCP.

Did I hear a 9mm version? Really? That'd be sweet.

I did do the obligatory ramp and throat polish after the first trip to the range.

I'd like a little instruction on exactly how to do this. My girlfriend's new LCP is jamming on American Eagle ammo and there aren't a lot of ammo choices at the moment...
