Ruger LCP vs. Smith & Wesson Bodyguard

Hi all,
I was hoping to get some "real world" feed back on which of the above
you would consider a " best bang" for you buck purchase. I'm looking for something thin & easy to hide in my pocket during the hot summer season, I usually carry a J-frame which is easy to conceal pretty much all of the time now & I'm just looking for something easy to conceal in minimal clothing. So my question is how reliable are the two & which one you would pick over the other & the reason why. Which one do you think would be better at handling higher pressure ammo like the corbon or buffalo bore stuff, I wasn't going to use standard 380 ammo( except maybe for break-in and practice) I was going to step it up a notch since they are 380's.( my j-frame is a 357mag) I do not plan on target shooting with it at all just concealed carry that's it. Any real world insight would be great as I do not know much about these two models

between these choices, I'd go with the J-Frame wheel gun. I've fired both and the LCP is very umcomfortable to shoot for me. The Trigger guard smacks my finger quite hard. For a carry gun, you need to practice with it and the LCP for me would not be a fun gun to get familar with.

Now, that being said, if the Sig P238 was an option in your poll, that would be the hands down choice for me.

I own a LCP and have a brother in-law who carries the bodyguard.

They are both good pistols, and I would be comfortable carrying either one.

The S&W has much better sights, and I would buy one if they made them without the laser. Still sights go to S&W.

The triggers are comparable but the S&W has the better DAO trigger.

The LCP is slightly more compact and easier to carry.

I've carried the LCP daily since the first came out and am very comfortable carrying it. It took me awhile to get used to the DAO trigger but once mastered it is surprisingly accurate at the range it was intended to be used at. The S&W is nicer, but not enough to trade mine in on one. To sum it up they are both good pistols, and either one would be a good choice.

i've had experience with both. they are both great guns, with the LCP being a bit more rough to practice with and acquire a good sight picture. that being said, it is lighter and a bit smaller, so i often prefer to carry the LCP and forget that it is even there :)
 
I have 2 LCP'sand have only shot the Bodyguard once. Both guns are what they are, up close and personal use. Neither trigger is great but they are both usable. Not range guns but better than a stick when you need it. For concealed carry guns there are still better options.
 
My LCP has been flawless since I got it. Pearce mag extensions and a Crimson Trace laser make it easier to shoot and great for social work.
 
I did check out the BG and the LCP between both guns I went with the ruger LCP
I have put threw the LCP 4 different manufactures of ammo HP,FMJ not a he-cup: round count close to 150 fired
I would say a great pocket gun and it works
 
I myself have carried a J frame smith for a lot of years. I did get some range time in with a borrowed Smith BG380. A very positive experience as the reliability was there, the sights were certainly usable to stretch the gun out a bit, and she point shot well for up close and personal. Recoil was minimal and comfortable and allowed fast follow-up shots.

Should i ever stray from the pocket revolver, and decide to go with a 380, it will be this one.
 
I own a 442 J frame and a LCP. The LCP is my EDC during the summer, and its been totally reliable and very easy to carry for me. The owner's manual says not to use +P ammo. It is 2.5 ounces lighter than the Smith. I think they are both excellent guns and you won't go wrong however you choose.
 
I was faced with the same choice.

The triggers on both pretty much suck.

The Ruger is a little smaller, making it easier to hide.

The S&W comes with a built in laser, and true double action, for second strike capability.

I bought the S&W Bodyguard .380 and it has been flawless. I also HATED the way the Ruger felt in my hand.
