Does anyone know if Ruger is planning on incorporating their new cam style trigger used the the LCR in the SP-101? I hear nothing but good things about the LCR trigger so it would seem natural to use that trigger mechanism in other double-action revolvers.

I like the LCRx but would prefer a steel gun like the SP-101 and a 3 inch barrel.

I actually love the function and feel of an sp101 trigger, I don't suppose they'd change it because I'm sure I'm not the only one

I don't know if I'd put it in the SP101 but it certainly makes sense to put it in a slightly longer barrel version, especially now with the exposed hammer version.

My sp101's trigger has smoothed through dry firing to the point that its as good as the trigger in most if not all of my older s&w's, so I personally would not be in any hurry to trade mine in for one with a different trigger.

I shot a lot of magnum rounds through both my LCR and SP101 (4.2") yesterday. I gave the SP101 a trigger and spring job when I first got it and I can say the DA trigger is far better than my LCR! The LCR is a bit lighter, and a very nice trigger for a carry gun, however it will never compete with the smoothness of a well-tuned traditional trigger.

I really like the cam trigger in the lcr, but I wonder how robust it is compared to the SP101's. The SPs are overbuilt tanks by design and some may not like not being to access the trigger group if it were cammed. Besides, my used SP101 has a very smooth trigger. Not as light as the lcr, but for a heavy carry gun it's fantastic.

However, a 3" dao lcr would be very tempting.

I don't doubt that the SP-101 has a good trigger after sending it off to a gunsmith for custom work. However, I don't think that should be a requirement for a new gun. The LCR seems to have a good trigger right out of the box.

I haven't shot either gun but the SP-101 I dry fired in the store had a horrible trigger. I was the worst out of the guns I was interested in. The LCR had the best trigger feel.

I prefer the sp trigger to the lcr. I always short stroked the lcr.

Me too. That's why I went with a S&W 642 when I wanted a pocket gun. Then the XDs came out, and the 642 was shuffled on.

However, my SP101 was my first handgun, and still gets carried.

We just picked up a new sp101. Date on the case is just a couple months ago. The trigger was super creaky and completely dry out of the box. It was seizing up while dry firing within an hour. I took it apart and found rust inside the frame as well as on the trigger group without any evidence of lube on anything The action was seizing because the hammer dog and plunger weren't working properly. I removed, cleaned, and lubed everything. Now it seems to be 100% but it's the THIRD brand new gun in 3 months that has failed me before a single shot was fired.
