I recieved this letter July 18, 1989, after I wrote to Ruger asking them about limiting magazine capacity to the general public, but not to LEO's etc.,

thought this reply might be of interest.

Do you still have the brassard? That's pretty cool of them to send you something just for writing a letter. Maybe I should find reasons to write letters to gun manufacturers...

Took them long enough to get back to you :p just kidding

They did a nice job of dodging the question if you asked about mag capacities and they basically responded by 'oh yes they are still magazine fed.'

Is Mr. Sanetti a lawyer by trade? He sure sounds like one.

I assume everyone has heard about the Mini-14 NRA-ILA edition rifle with 20-rd mags, right?

Yes, Mr Sanetti was the general counsel for Ruger then, and went on to be come President and CEO.

Dodging the question is an artform.

I remember that rumor!

The stool sitters were telling people that Ruger's 1990 catalogue listed the Mini-14 as "Mini-14CM", CM for "Closed Magazine."

Stool sitters were attempting to get some of the gun buying mania turned toward a product they could resupply so they started the "closed magazine" rumor in the Spring of '89.

I remember thinking that he didn't completely answer my question, but he did say there were no plans to change it either.

Law student chiming in. You asked about the mag capacity. He answered by saying the RIFLE will not be changed or discontinued. The amg and the rifle, as you well know are two completely different items. They just happen to work together. He said nothing about the mag capacity. An example of a well trained bull-s**t artist (oops, i meant lawyer.)

Very cool letter to keep. I wonder if some day it could be worth something to a collector. Might want to contact Jay Hansen who is the head of the Ruger Collectors.
Thanks for posting.

P.s.- i was assuming that you were refering to the whole package being unchanged.
