I have searched but can't come up with a positive answer on what the twist rate of my new Ruger M77 Mark II .223 rifle. I have bought some dies and a few components to reload for it but can't decide on what bullet weights I want to buy as I don't know exactly what the twist rate is. I think I have it narrowed down to 2, a 1:12" or a 1:9". The rifle is the All weather model with a black synthetic stock and a Stainless Steel barrel, not that that matters.

You don't think that the Hawkeye model is different than the older Mark II model. This is where my confusion lies, I've seen posts where someone else said that their Ruger M77 was a 1:12" twist rate but wasn't able to verify that their model was the Mark II because the thread was old. Maybe I can call Ruger and find an answer.

Just use a cleaning rod and a brush/patch to see what the twist rate is!! The most accurate "readings" will occur if the brush/patch follows the lands and doesn't "skip" over them.
