Hi guys,
I have a ruger m77 mk2 and i want to get the foresight off, i believe it is soldered on. Has anyone removed one and anyone got any advice on the best way to get it off without damaging the barrell,

I also want to recrown it. I can't afford the £50 that my local gunsmith wants for the job ($100) do any of you guys have a recrowning tool you could lend me to do the job? I will send it straight back when I have done with it. It is 243 win.

Thanks guys. I know loaning tools to a bloke you don't know is a big ask but you can trust me on this one.

Ruger sights

If the MK II is the same as the #1 or m-77 ,under the sight blade there is a small lock screw that must be loosened ( caution also a plunger and lock spring will shoot out when removing sight) The sight is not soldered on but is either press fit or heat shrunk on ,They can be a bugger to get off. A heavy brass punch plus heat and it can be knocked off without damage. They do take some effort!
good luck ,
Chris
