What do you think of the quality of there standard model rifle? I am deciding between this and the Savage 110, dut to being left handed I am kinda crippled by selection. I hav eheard that savage has more on them by the way of accuracy, is this true? Thanx for any info. Travis

Mine (m77 mk1)is an older tang safety that I really like. Fine accuracy, although accuracy is often said to be lacking among the Ruger's. I don't have a broad range of experience over several guns to say, but some of my loads will go 4/10's moa (.243 standard sporter). My brother has a mark II and I like the action a bit more than mine to be honest.

The Savage is a push-feed and the Ruger is a controlled-round-feed. The Ruger uses a cast receiver and the Savage uses a forged receiver. The trigger on both is less than perfect, but help (smithing the stock trigger or outright replacement) is available for both. The Ruger tends to be finished a little mo' nicely. The Savage has barrels that are easily replaced by a capable owner, making rechambering relatively easy.

Of the two, I'd favor the Savage for general use and the Ruger if I felt the need for a CRF design.

Both great rifles

If the Savage has the accu-trigger there is no other choice- it is that good. Do not be intimidated by " sorry not available in left hand" there are more left handed rifles out there now than ever before.
How much accuracy are you looking for and how much are you capable of. Both of my Rugers will shoot 1MOA for me . Both my son's and my son in law's Savages are capable of 1/2-3/4 MOA for them.

Can't go wrong with either. They both have equal downfalls. The Savage Accutrigger is somewhat nice. The Ruger has a better finish, but when it comes to the gun itself, either would be a fine choice. Flip a coin? :D

Ruger may use cast parts but don't let it turn you away. Ruger makes extremely strong firearms. Ruger triggers alittle gritty out of the box. I haven't tried any of the new Savage rifles. Both Ruger and Savage rifles are very accurate.
