A Lexan 275 round drum is shown. The translucent Lexan drum has the advantage over original metal American 180 drum in being able to see the number of rounds remaining in the drum.
Lexan drum are available in 165, 220, and 275 round configurations. These differ in their respective heights, and number of layers of ammunition they hold.
The 165 Lexan drum is 1 1/4" tall and holds three layers of ammuniation.
The 220 Lexan drum is 1 3/8" tall and holds four layers of ammuniation.
The 275 Lexan drum is 1 9/16" tall and holds five layers of ammunition.
The original 177 round American 180 drum is 1 1/16" tall and holds three layers of ammunition.

The American SAR 180/275 comes standard with walnut wood furniture, 165 round Lexan plastic drum, and instruction manual.
I don't think that those are the disposable ones (I didn't find any mention on the site about those). With them talking about how much easier/faster it is to reload them with the optional loading tray I took that to mean that they were reusable. It's still an expensive hunk of plastic but not as bad as you thought (assuming that you can get out to the range every now & then & actually use the thing ).
