Ruger Max-9 slide lock problems

Good thread and thanks for the update. Nice to know the fix even though I have not had that issue with mine.
I liked someguy2800's fix.

I think it would work with the majority of ammo on the market (maybe even more than 95%), but I want to use HST! Also, I’d guess that your and my original slide stops were not quite perfect. I think the majority of Max-9s on the market (maybe not 95%) would work with HSTs. Tolerances stack, and eventually one will get through QA that won’t work with all the ammo it’s supposed to work with. My hypothesis is supported by the fact that my new one seems to work fine. At least so far.

Interesting. I just bought 147 grain HST for my Max 9. I shot it Monday. I ran 50 rounds of it through the Max 9 (Lucky Gunner had 147 grain HST LE. It was $34.00 plus shipping for a 50 round box. The first magazine ran without a hitch. Twice on the second magazine it didn't fully return to battery. It was close but not quite. I pushed on the back of the slide & the round chambered. The rest of the 50 rounds fed & fired just fine. Now you have me wondering if I should touch slide stop once or twice with a file or maybe polish it some. I still haven't had a chance to clean it. I probably will tonight. When I do I'm going to look at the slide stop & see if I see wear marks on it.

Sounds like a different problem. If it was the slide stop, it would have locked back as if it were empty. Check to make sure your rails are clean, check your return spring under the barrel.

I still haven't cleaned it. I will try to tomorrow night so I can carry it again. I've been carrying the M&P 2.0 Compact but the Max 9 is much more convenient. I don't wa
want to carry a dirty gun.
