I recently purchased a ruger mini 30 and have gotten a ton of misfires with it while shooting Russian ammo. I haven't tried it with American stuff yet. Does anyone else here have a mini 30, and if so have you ever had misfiring problems?

Yes, the firing pin is making a very good indent on them. I'm wondering if I might need a stronger trigger/recoil spring to make them fire reliably.

If you are getting a good solid firing pin strike that is leaving a deep dent in the primer then there is nothing wrong with the rifle.

Sounds like bad ammo to me.

 Ditto the bad ammo suspicion. --especially if it is any sort of arsenal surplus. Storage history simply isn't known. Older surplus might have been subjected to high temperatures and/or humidity. Try some fresh commercial stuff from Winchester, Federal or one of the others to see if things improve.;)

I have shot everything I can get and never had a misfire. If a good primer indent is present then I would have to say it is the ammo.
Does it fire if you try it again?

try the cheap wolf ammo or monarch lacquer steel ammo.
sounds like the rifle is good, but ammo is bad.

I had one until lately. It was not particularly accurate and that was why I got rid of it. On the up side I never had it fail to function with any ammo I ran through it.

I had some misfires with my CZ carbine in x39. The factory spring wasn't strong enough to dent those primers. I now have a Wolff spring installed that sets about 90% off.

It's the ammo. The primers are *really* hard.
