Every time I go to the range the front sight gets lose... This time I had a close look and it seems Ruger used red loctite (at least it's red, not blue....) Ruger C/S told me to use blue loctite.

Is this normal? Or my gun has been used? When I received it the gun does not look very new..

The screw seems a bit short. It goes into 1/3 of the depth of the hole. I remember someone said they replaced the screw with a longer one and permanently solved the problem. Anyone knows what size of screw I can use for the front sight? Can I find it in hardware/automotive store?

Thanks

Why not try fresh Loctite first? Clean all threads with Acetone and then apply as directed. Strange maybe, but Loctite has a shelf life and after it's up they say it looses its effectiveness. May just be a marketing gimmick but the stuff is dirt cheap. Worked on our two "Mark" guns.

I've bought many guns over the years and my experience is many of them didn't look new until they were wiped down and all the preservative and dust was removed. I've had loose sights and such on new guns and for me it's just part of the game. Irksome maybe, but after all it is a mechanical device assembled by humans.
