Guys,

I've shot less than 300 rounds in my brand new Ruger MKIII 22/45 and the rear sight assembly keeps moving to the right. I've removed the sight and cleaned any oil underneath and then loctite the set screw. It's still moving.

Looks like I'll be sending it back to Ruger through my local dealer where I bought it from. If that's the case... how long can til I get it back?

Some have said to peen the dovetail or put punch prick marks on the flat parts to help hold it in. But I'm afraid to do any of the above in case I have to send it back to Ruger.

Any suggestions?

Tap the "ears" of the dovetail down slightly to hold better, or dimple the bottom flat of the dovetail.

Another option is Loc-Tite.

Good Luck...

Joe

I rolled the ears in and also added very small punch marks... 1 on each corner of the receiver dovetail's base. I didn't add any loctite to the assembly... just to the set screw. That'll be next if this doesn't work. I had to tap the sight into the dovetail with a good amount of force to get it in (from the ejector side first of course).
