Ruger MkIII Target Magazine Sticking

I can't seem to get the magazine to disengage on my Ruger Mark III Target in .22 long rifle caliber - the gun is empty and I want to disassemble for cleaning, but the magazine won't release when I push the mag release button. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas what the issue might be?

It's the magzine disconnect safety. Earlier guns didn't have this problem. I've simply resigned myself to live with it. On my Mk III Hunter I simply touch the base pad, maybe with a little upward pressure. That always frees it. And it won't stick with a loaded magazine. But you may have different results.

I got the same problem every once in a while between my 4 MKIII. It will come out if you carefully wiggle it back and forth while pulling it out. Don't lose you cool or use plier because you can damage it.
