I have a Ruger New Vaquero in stainless steel that is just too shiny. I want to knock the shine off of this thing and want to know if any of you guys have done anything like this before. I have found threads about antiquing blued guns but nothing on Stainless. If I glassbead it then it just goes matte. I would like a little weathered look also. Thanks for any help...

Find a person savvy with working on or refinishing handguns, and get a soft beadblast (as mentioned above). It gives them a frosted look, and is often used on guns before matte blueing, etc, and there are lots of matte finished autos (S&W and most Colt stainless come to mind).

You could just carry & shoot it alot, that tends to put some wear on it and knock some of the shine out

+1 for professional beadblasting. It costs more that scotchbrite... but if you screw it up, you'll never be happy looking at that gun again. Gunsmiths and tattoo artists get the same scrutiny from me... I want to see their work, preferrably on somebody I know, whose recommendation I trust, before letting them do something irrevocable.
