After ejecting a case, does the ejector automatically return to its recess by the chamber? I just had the barrel on my Ruger No.3 shortened & rechambered to .22TCM & I've noticed that when a case is ejected the ejector remains to the rear & I have to partially raise the block to get it to go back in its recess, & if I chamber a cartridge while the ejector is not in its recess the extractor groove doesn't engage the ejector. Did the gunsmith lose a part or does it need adjusting, or what?! The rifle left the factory as a .22 Hornet, but a previous owner had it rechambered to .223 Remington, which was more than I wanted for my ground squirrel shooting, & I quite like the .22 TCM cartridge, but not the RIA rifle it came chambered in, so I bought the Ruger a few years ago with the intention of getting it converted, but have only recently gotten around to it, & it's been so long since I shot it I've forgotten how the ejector worked!
