Ruger not liable for NJ cops being shot

So, a felon in posession of a firearm, and a straw purchaser get less than 3.5 years (I didn't see the sentence, but as this happened 3.5 years ago) in prison?
 
Hard to imagine this case made it even this far.

I wonder if the former officers considered suing the manufacturer of the automobile that these people used in travelling to the pawn shop. Or maybe they'll go after the company that produced the ammunition next.

I seriously hope these two fellows are okay, because they should NOT have been shot in the first place. But Ruger certainly didn't put the gun in the bad guy's hands, nor did it pull the trigger.

Good decision by the judge.
