ruger old army base pin question

just bought mid 70's stainless old army ruger.The base pin is straight till it gets to the bottem base pin screw notch ,from there to the end where the loading plunger hings on ,it is bent downward some .every thing works ,is alittle tight getting base pin in frame though.Did notice if base pin was straight loading plunger would be high enuff to not enter chamber .did not now if all roa base pins were bent like this ?or if some adjusted it for the plunger to fit?

I had my ROA apart today just to make sure it's ready for this weekend. The base pin in it is perfectly straight and it lines up with the cylinder.

the pin is what will get FUBaRed if you try to force the ramrod (loading lever) to hard. What I have done is purchase a cylinder loading tool to help prevent this from happening. some people will say it's a pain to remove the cylinder every time to load and to learn proper loading pressure. They are correct to a point, using the loading is simple and I don't worry about bending a part on my Ruger.

You can bend up the base pin if you don't have the screw turned that locks the cylinder base pin in place. So if it's turned the wrong way and you try to ram a ball down in to the cylinder...it moves and now you've bent the pin.
