Guys, I am looking for some grips for an Old Model, 3 screw flattop with the XR3 frame. i bought a gun used and it had some clunky looking oversized grips on it but came with the original grips, just that one side had broken in half and i cant get it to go back together right enough to fit the gun without breaking again, right through the screw thread insert.

anyone have ideas of good grips to look into? Eagle? anyone know someone who also has a broken grip? maybe i can get lucky and find a replacement side....

What about Gun Parts Corp ?
Part 731740 for the Super Blackhawk
They may have others

You might also try to glue a peice of 1/8 inch plywood on the inside of the grips that is cut to fit inside of the frame.
I have done that on guns that I cant find replacements for, and the grips were split like yours.
I get the 1/8 " plywood from Hobby stores that sell stuf for RC planes and model Trains.
If there are gaps in the grips, or visable cracks, I fill them with Brown Epoxy Bedding compound like for glass bedding rifle stocks.
Heck, I made a mold one time and cast a set of grips out of bedding compound.
But mostly, now I just make new grips out of walnut and reinstall the screws and original medalians.

Does your revolver have the XR3 frame (53 to 63) or XR3 Red frame? (1962/63 on) they are slightly different but if you have the XR3 Red frame you will have a much better chance of finding grips without spending a lot...

You might also want to try looking for them at gun shows (I have had some success doing this), and online at Gunbroker. Also try posting your search at one of the Ruger collectors websites.

Great looking grips! I had him make the same grips for my Flattop .44 Special.

Xr3 frame. thats why its significantly harder to find a set of grips.

I was afraid you wrote it correctly and you're right, they are harder to find. Good luck, I'm sure you will find something on the NET but at what price!

Is it possible to have the broken grip panel professionally repaired?

*EDIT*
Oh my goodness!!! Is this what you are looking for???
