love my trusty ol' P-89, can shoot pretty tight groups with it as is, but wish for a good trigger job.

have not been able to find anyone who works on them.

anyone out there know of a good gunsmith for the P series?

Google Novak's Handgunner Outlet.

This is not the Wayne Novak that invented the sights, it is a different fella that works on the Ruger autos.

A search of www.rugerforum.com might provide his contact information.

Just my .02,

You can install a P95 trigger in the 89. Doing that along with polishing the contact surfaces will make a huge improvement.

If you search in the "Ruger world" and here on THR, you'll no doubt run into posts from forum member P97. He has a very cool engraved Ruger P90 that I believe had some action work done by Teddy Jacobson of Actions by T.

I'm not much help to the OP, however, the P89 was my first handgun I bought turning 21. It has been nothing but reliable. Over 5000 rounds digested without an issue. I stopped keeping up with the round count. My Sig P226 is nowy go to alloy framed 9. For plastic, I prefer the M&P line. Anyone on a budget, I always recommend the ruger P series. Not the prettiest, but built like tanks and are reliable.

To the OP. I don't know of any gunsmiths that work on P-Guns, but I do know that if you want to lighten the trigger its super easy and costs next-to-nothing. You just need a new hammer spring.

The weight of the trigger will definitely be reduced. Just make sure that you still have enough spring to hit the primers hard enough for consistent ignition.

I did a writeup on it at Rugerforum.com

well sargents, all I can say is that it is guys like you that make the forums such a great asset!

thank you!

I'll take this job on in a heartbeat thanks to your explanation.

I know there is great accuracy to be had out of my old P85, I'll shoot a 5 or 6 round group at 25 yds, unrested and get 3 or 4 shots in a 1-3/4" group, then 2 fliers that wreck the group. My pull meter says 6 lbs 11 oz. in single action right now. DA is off the scale > 12 lbs.
