I am thinking about getting a .45. I don't really want to get a 1911 because I am not a fan of carrying cocked and locked. I have been looking at the Ruger P345 on their website. Does anyone on here own this pistol and would you be willing to share you opinions about it?

Don't have one either, but it looks a bit more of a more comfortable carry package than my P90 which I really like. I just can't get past some of the safety stuff they've built into it, but I think I could live with it. I'd disable that stupid magazine safety thing for sure. I ain't scared of lawyers in Texas. I've I lived in some socialist state like Kali, maybe, but not in Texas.
I think I'll stick with the P90 for my .45 duties, though. The trigger is fantastic, it's super accurate, and I'm used to it. It ain't that tough to carry when I want it along for the ride.

I have one, like it, it's in the nightstand.
Reliable, top-heavy, reliable, heavy trigger pull, reliable, only 8 round mag capacity. Decock only, no manual safety.
Did I mention it's reliable?
Eats everything. With chopsticks. Yeah that sounds hard but it makes it look easy. Not a hard-kicking gun either, especially for a poly frame.

I have the stainless model with the manual safety. I think I read somewhere that they're reliable
I have had one FTF on the first magazine I put through it and its been 100% since then. I've put several types and qualities of ammo through it--its not a picky eater.
It is actually my first and favorite handgun. It also happens to be my wife's favorite gun--she actually bought it for me as a Christmas gift shortly after they came out.
I have a Springfield XD-9, Kel-Tec P32, Beretta Tomcat, Auto Ordnance 1911A1, Browning Buckmark and Sig Trailside that I shoot regularly but the Ruger is the one that always brings a smile to my face.

Bought one specifically for CCW.
Inexpensive DA\SA with a decocker safety, low sights, rail, and a slim grip. And I happen to like the loaded chamber indicator.
BTW, is the K&D Holster the only option for a P345 quality leather holster?

Good gun. I had a couple of failures to feed. Actually pretty reliable overall now.
I DID remove the magazine disconnect however. I had several failures to fire before I did this.
Some have had no problem with the mag disconnect. Some (like me) had problems with it from the begiinning. Some that swore theirs was ok for thousands of rounds suddenly began experiencing the problem.
From MY experience, I would not trust the 345 for carry unless the mag disconnect was removed. Others do.

You must be referring to the first pistol pictured on that page. No sir, I have the second pistol on that page, the KP345DPR, which, in the specifications is listed as "Decock-Only Mechanism / Firing Pin Block". I'm here to assure you that the decock function on my pistol does work as a decocker and not as a manual safety. It is sprung, when you thumb it down (which drops the hammer) and release, it springs back to the normal upward position. I find this useful because I like my nightstand gun to have one in the chamber, but I want a long heavy DA pull for my first shot because I'm a sound sleeper and wake up groggy much of the time, and need a little more safety factor than some.
The Ruger P345 has some nice lines to it, that's fer sure.
Up close and personal, she's no beauty queen compared to high-end guns I have seen, but definitely not Glock ugly either. I've never had a problem of any kind with this gun.
Oh, mine is the only handgun I have that needs copper solvent after every trip to the range. Most of the rest only get that treatment every second or third outing. I think the interior of my 345 barrel is not as smooth as my others (couple of CZ's and a Springfield XD) which look like polished glass after a good cleaning.
I'm not really a match target shooter, so I don't expect REALLY tight groups for the most part. The P345 is adequate in that regard - it puts big ol' pieces of lead where they're apt to be mighty discouraging to somone looking to do me harm, and for most purposes that's good enough. +P, HP, and everything. I kinda wish it had those 2 extra rounds but for a nightstand gun that ought to be good enough.
I guess, since it's a nightstand gun, I ought to consider putting trittium sights of some kind on it. That's about the only improvement that could conceiveably be of any tangible benefit.
