Is there any advantage to NOT getting the decocker model? It's ten bucks cheaper at my store, and after reading the descriptions, I understand the decocker model can shoot exactly like the "double action only" model, with the option of shooting in single action.

Am I missing something? Is there some advantage in NOT being able to put the hammer in a cocked position? An advantage in having double action only?
Is it that the double action only model has no external safety?

The DAO model is DA for each and every shot. The DC model is DA for the first shot and SA thereafter, unless you decock it. You'll have a consistent trigger pull with the DAO model, while the DC model allows you to have a SA pull for the second and following shots, or you can manually cock it.

I like DA/SA but there is a place for DAO and decockers too. DAO is good for someone who is used to revolvers or is not a real gun person.

Also good for liability reasons as a lawyer cannot claim you thumb cocked a pistol for a "hair trigger" effect and shot by accident.

I think all police duty weapons really should be manual safety versions carried on safe. Our local sheriffs dept requires on safe carry of all duty pistols. Many gun snatches resulting in officer being shot are prevented by on safe carry along with training in weapon retention and proper holsters.

So it's DA first then SA thereatfter, unless you decock it- so if you decock it it is double action throughout? Or does that just mean you would be hitting the decocker b.f every shot to make it DA for every shot?

So basically the DAO is double action every time you pull the trigger, and the DC can't do that.

Yes, with decocker, it will be sa for every shot after a DA one unless you decock before every time you pull the trigger.

Think of it this way: DA on the first shot, then you can shoot SA for the remainder of your magazine or decock. Each time you decock your next shot will be DA.
