In my quest for a good .45 that takes my fancey , I ran across a Ruger P90 at a gun shop for $350. Is this a good running pistol? Its like new and it looks like it hasnt been shot much at all. Good Reliability Overall?

Now also, I was lookin in a J&G sales flyer and they have police trade in Glock 21s for $400(Plus shiping and all the other stuff.) It would probably be closer to $500. I know the Glock stories mind you, but what one would you pick and do you have any experience with these guns? I might keep it at the ready at night as for its purpose. The question is which is the better value?

Thanks
Mavrick

No experience with a Glock 21, but a Ruger P90 is my bedside gun. I love it and would not hesitate to buy another. I'll admit I've gotten used to the 1911 trigger, but the P90 with its DA/SA trigger is still a joy to shoot and very accurate, too.

I like my P90! It or my P345 is my bedside gun. They are also my carry weapons (the P90 more in cooler weather now that I have the P345). I like Glocks but they don't like me (I can't shoot them for crap).

Both are fine firearms that would serve you well. And this from me, a known outspoken anti-glock'er. Having recently fired one some, the G21 is the exception in the lineup for me. Both guns are known to be reliable. It really comes down to what you want in a trigger/action and frame material, and which feels better to you.

I used to have a P90 but now have the Glock. I agree that both are good guns. I just like the Glock a little more

I have both and like them both.

The only difference in my experience is that the P90 actually is more compact than the G21.

Had a P90, got a P97 and G21SF, if I had to have only one it would be Glock. Pops

I have both a Ruger P-90 and a Glock 21...

Although the P-90 is not a bad gun (and I have no plan to get rid of mine), I'd get the Glock 21 if I was planning on one or the other...

I own both 1911's & a Ruger P-90. Have tried several models of Glock, in both 9MM and .45ACP, and I am not comfortable with them....they don't seem to 'fit' me very well. Nothing wrong with Gaston's offerings, just not my cup-o-tea. I bought the P-90 first, and I still like it a lot, but it is 'blocky' comapred to a 1911.

If a range near you has rental guns, or you have a couple of friends with the different pistols you want to try, make it a "range day." Bring enough ammo of ONE brand and type to feed both guns, and you have a more 'apples-to-apples' comparison.

I had a Glock 21, a Ruger P89 and I still have a Ruger P93. I also had a CZ 97B. Side by side, I'd have to say the Glock was the smoothest shooting gun of the lot, even for a .45. It out shot my CZ 97B every time (although not by much!) I don't think you can go wrong with the Glock - but the "Range Day" suggestion is a very valid one.
