I'm looking for a 9mm (or thereabouts) handgun that will be only for home defense. I will most likely be the person will hopefully never have to use it, but I need something that my wife could use as well. She can shoot, but she's not what I'd call a shooter.

Money is a bit of a limiting factor and I'm looking for something around $400.

As my wife isn't a shooter, I'm thinking something as simple as possible for her, so I'm leaning in the direction of a double-action gun. Originally, I was thinking about getting a Bersa .380 because the durn thing is so comfortable to shoot, but I think I want something with more punch, and I am open to the idea of a revolver (probably a Taurus with a 4" barrel) as well. The idea with all of these is that there's no safety to fiddle with, it's just point-n-shoot.

So the question is, given these needs, what would you get, and why?

The p95 makes a great home defense gun. They are very reliable. That's what I keep loaded even though I have other nicer pistols. As for the EZ 9 I don't know anything about it but it could be just fine too. The only thing that would worry me is if EAA stops importing them will there be parts available. I use to have some star pistols that were great. Star went out of business and parts became very difficult to get. You wouldn't have that problem with ruger. Mark
