Hello all, I ordered the P95. Bud's had it for $321 shipped so I could not pass up the price.

My questions are as follows:

Can the safety/decocker be made into just a decocker? They were out of stok on the P95D and have been for a while.

Are the 17 round MecGar mags any good in this pistol? I am a big believer in Ruger factory mags, but MecGar makes good stuff.

Thanks.

The 17 rd Mec-Gar's I had for my P89 were fine as long as I only loaded 16 rds. 17 rds fit VERY tight. So much so that the cartridges would sometimes get hung up in the mag body like they were trying to pass each other.

I'm anxious about this topic too. I would think that it should be a simple mod.
De-cock only makes more sense than a double safety because when the hammer is down , you don't need any other safety to fowl up your chance of survival in a pinch.

The only possible upside that I can see for a de-cock/safety is that when you chamber a round and the de-cock is in safety position is that the hammer follows the slide but, then you have to remenber to put it back in business mode.

I changed my decock safety model over to decock only. On the p95 I changed over the complete slide, the trigger bar and the ejector assembly. These parts different on the two variations. I started with a blued safety models. I bought a complete stainless p95dc minus the frame on auctionarms for $75. I changed out the parts then sold the blued complete slide and parts for $65. It cost me a little over $10 to do the switch. If you watch auctionarms and gunbroker these come up once in awhile. I think they are confiscated guns where the frame is destroyed. Thanks for the pointer RailRoader.
It got me thinking that we might only have to order the "decock only" from ruger for the p95dc. I think I will try to call Ruger tomorrow , when I get time to sit on hold for awhile.

If you are looking for p95DC and not just the parts look on gunbroker and auctionarms for one. Being they are discontinued I wouldn't think ruger is going to have comeplete guns for sale. Now if you want just the parts it's going to be expensive at ruger because of the slide being different. Mark

:D I found a P95DC complete slide and all parts except for the frame on gunbroker and won it for $67.00 plus $10.00 shipping. Now that I have a spare barrel I can blast away with cast bulets and when its the end of the day, just change barrels till I get to cleaning.

Remember to change the ejector plate when you convert it. They are slightly different. The trigger bar won't function right with the safety version. Mark

You might also want to try the hammer and sear from the parts you are buying. The ones I got in DC parts package made for a nicer trigger pull than the original ones in the gun so I switched those out too. Mark
