I was looking for the post regarding Sp101s where folks were buying hammers that had had the spurs cut off, or came without spurs. I'm really more interested in finding spurless and spur hammers for the GP100 though, but info about both would be appreciated. I've got a chance to trade one of my excess S&W 19-4s for a Ruger GP100 4" in 95%+ and two hundred rounds of .357 magnum, that doesn't have a spur on the hammer.
I've got two other 19-4s, I don't have a Ruger GP100 and would like one as a primary shooter outside my snub nose .357s, and to keep in a shoulder holster for CCW when wardrobe abides. I've heard great things about Ruger only charging shipping when you send a gun in that you haven't violated their policies on (shortening the barrel, using aftermarkert parts), and was wondering if anyone has had this experience.
If I get the GP100 I'll want to order an extra 1000 rds(to break it in) when I see my FFL guy next when I bring my students over for their group purchase. Also I'd like to know what folks shoot in the way of .38 Spcl out of their GP100s, it'd be nice to know what defense ammo is out there that'd be in 1000fps 130grain-158grain range. Thank you.
