It's nice to see Ruger is making a Hawkeye chambered in a .280 Rem for 2012. I picked up an all-weather in a 280 Rem last month and it's a very accurate gun with ballistic numbers to match. 140gr Fusions are giving me 1MOA. I'd hate to see this chambering fall off manufacturer's radars.

.280 and .260 two cartridges that I wish would catch on. .260 might be popular with the long range competitors, but tough to find hunting rifles chambered in .260.

The only way I see it taking off is if ammo is more readily available and the price of the ammo is closer or equal to the 30-06 and 270 for commercial cartridges. The 280 ammo is too close in price to the 7mm Rem Mag.

.280 Rem is definitely a versatile cartridge, 110 grn to 175 grn covers just about everything on the North American continent, cept maybe them big ol bears up north. At least "I" would want a little more "oomph" for them.

I think 'warbirdlover" stocked a Hawkeye(Boyd's laminate) a few months back.

the 280 just will never die. It has had at least 3 different little mini resurrections in my lifetime.
