I potentially have the chance to purchase a Ruger Security Six for what may be a very good price...but since I'm not a Ruger guy, I need some help.

Here is the description from the owner:

To answer your questions… I am the original owner. I bought it about 30 years ago while I was on a trip back in Pennsylvania… This weapon was the service weapon of choice for the PA State Police and I decided I had to have one. I don’t believe I have ever fired it, at least I honestly can’t remember ever shooting it. So it is in like new condition, stainless steel, walnut grips, leather holster, 4 inch barrel.

Other than finding out whether he has the original box, what other questions should I ask, and do you guys have an estimated value? He's asking $300.

I am no expert but that seems like a steal. I just bought a blued Security Six with 4" barrel that was made in 1974-75 and in great condition for $300. Now I feel like I paid too much.

If is as stated, and you do the revolver check out as outlined in the sticky on this forum and all is well with that. YES, JUMP ON IT. I paid 275 2 years ago for used police trade in.

$300 is sort of a std. price for a stainless Ruger SS, 4" barrell, in standard used shape. For one that was shot very little or is like new, expect to pay more. For one with 2 3/4" barrell, expect to pay even more (these are in demand). Blued are a few dollars cheaper but not much.

$300 is probably too little. If you want to sleep at nite, offer him at least $335 for it.

If you decide no, please PM me with the guys info. If I get the gun, I'll happily send you 50 bucks.

I purchased a similar Security Six a few months ago for $275.00 and would have easily gone $300.00+. BUY IT!!!!, they're a great gun.

I just paid 250 for a blued gun, and an aquaintance of mine bought a stainless one for around 270 a year ago. For 300 for a stainless one today I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

That's a terrible price! Please kindly send me the dealer's name and phone number so that I can tell him what it's really worth. ;)

Run......... as hard as you can before its gone. I gave that for one, four years ago and it was a good buy then.

I bought one in '77

As I recall i paid 350 THEN! If you decide not to buy, I will. I sold mine to my brother :fire: I miss the versatility of shooting .38's for show and .357 for blow. Ruger stainless mags ROCK.
