Gun websites like the other poster mentioned here may help you too. I think that Ebay and CraigsList don't sell anything in parts for guns but I am NOT positive. You can check them out.
Perhaps a gun store might be able to give you a quote on one and you can compare the 'prices'.

Ruger will fit a replacement cylinder for ~$50-$100 IIRC.

They will, if it was a convertable to start with.

I know that the .22 magnum is .001" larger bore.
So I'm assuming that all makers of revolvers offered as convertibles (with both cylinders) make the barrel to the larger WMR spec.
So doesn't that make the gun less accurate with .22 LR?
I don't believe that Ruger would make a .22LR gun with one size barrel, and the convertible or magnum with a different barrel .001" larger.

The extra cylinder must be Qualified at the factory. Not at all a drop in from gun to gun. Get the gun to Ruger and they will do a proper fitting of your extra cylinder. TOGGLELOCK

With the price of .22 mag ammo at $15 for 50 rounds (Wal*Mart), I don't suppose I'll use mine. If someone knows where to get some at a good price, please let me know.

If you want a magnum cylinder, I would shop around and grab one. The way Rugers are made, the timing isn't adjustable and the odds of a problem there are very remote. If there is too great or too little cylinder gap, which is not all that prevalent a problem, just re-sell it and get another one. I have bought two magnum cylinders over the years and they both dropped right in and fit like champs, and I know two other people who also had no issues.
I am not saying there cannot be issues, just saying that for the cost of shipping and installation at Ruger you could try several. Also, this is not recommended for those without a clue.

Which gun did you buy it for? And, as I said, even at 50/50, if you have to get two and sell one, you're money ahead. No wait, I've seen 4 with no problem, so that's 5/1 odds for six guns. Pretty good odds if you ask me.
Virginian, great for you....and trial by selling is a great idea also, but after watching folk for years attempting to fit another cylinder to Rugers, I still maintain 50/50 odds with any given gun....them NOT fitting is why Ruger has always required return of gun, decades before liability suits became the American way....too much variation in cast frame dimensions and barrel stub protrusion....

You are correct....ever since they offered the Magnum, all bores have been larger....the cylinder deal is simply that Ruger has had a long-standing policy of only fitting conversion cylinders to guns originally delivered/serialed as convertible guns....don't know if they've changed that policy....probably has as much to do with not cutting their own market on convertible guns as it might have to do with product liability....they don't do any sort of conversions....they only restore to shipped caliber/condition/specs.....
I picked one up on ebite a few years ago for my Bisley and it dropped right in, no problem. There are a couple of different lengths that you have to watch out for, if the length is the same you should have no problem. There is no timing adjustment, if it locks up it will shoot.
