I just picked up a new model Ruger single six today. The action seems a little "gummy" for lack of a better word. I'd much rather try hosing it out with some of that gun scrubber in a can stuff, but I'm worried it'll remove the finish on the alloy grip frame/trigger guard. Anyone have experience with this finish?

Unless they have started doing something different then the way they have done it the last 50 years:

The grip frame & ejector rod housing on a single-six are anodized aluminum.
There is no gun cleaning solvent that will harm it in the slightest.

they're using some kind of coating now, at least since around '99 when i got mine. it has the surface texture of a paint and it's been wearing off of the ejector housing for a couple of years.

eta: it looks like the same stuff that's on 10/22 receivers

Just looked up the serial on Rugers website, apparently it's a 1975 production. I thought from the shape it's in it'd be newer.
