I think the control with the Hogues is better. But don't really have any issues using the stock grips with 357s. A bit easier to carry concealed with the stock grips.

Hogue grips on a SP101 is a no brainer in my mind. Best thing you can do for an SP101 and still conceals very well. That and upgrade the blade sight to something with tritium.

Nice picture thread. Here is my recently purchased SP-101. Previously I owned a 21/2in barrel SP101. I sold it, and have wanted another ever since. Went for the 3in model this time, but wouldn't mind owning both lengths. For now I'm using the stock grips, but I do find my finger being banged up a bit by the the trigger guard during recoil with full power 357. Those Hogue grips look nice.

Cocked& Locked, your front sight is on backwards on that SP101.biker

Looks that way but its on correctly. I removed the factory front sight and replaced it with a Meprolight Tru-Dot Night Sight. That sight is on the gun in the picture.

Here 'tis from the shooter's point of view.

While the Hogue rubber grips are great for shooting, they add bulk to the gun. My son is carrying a SP 101 that he got from me and added Badger grips.

I like the looks of the Badger boot grips but they don't work for me. With the Badgers, and the Eagle grips, the in-hand angle is all wrong for me.

With those I don't point the gun naturally. I end up muzzle high and have to turn my wrist downward to line things up right.

Might just be me. :scrutiny:

Might just be me.

I doubt it's just you. I can't speak for myself, never tried the Badger grips, but this is why they make so many grips for popular revolvers and also why I like the SP101's grip frame design, allows for such amazing variety that no other revolvers seem to do that aren't Ruger built. This grip frame design was a stroke of genius IMHO.

The Hogue grips made a huge diff on my SP...its now one of my fav revolvers to shoot
To me its the best deal out there for the money....no way i will pay 600-750 for a new Smith
