I need a firing pin and spring for a Ruger Speed Six revolver. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance Jerry

Contact the factory: www.ruger.com or (928)541-8820. Ruger still services and supports the Security/Speed-Six guns, although from what I understand the Service Department for these guns consists of one Maytag-repairman-type guy in a small office with small bins full of parts left over from original production.

If the firing pin and/or spring are broken and need to be replaced, definitely send the gun to the factory - the firing pin is secured in the frame by a cross-pin that is polished over so that it appears to be a seamless part of the frame. Ruger has a special press they use to install and remove the cross-pin without damaging the frame's finish, and of course they can re-finish the gun if necessary.

If all you want is the spare parts just in case, you can also try: www.e-gunparts.com (Numrich Gun Parts Corporation). Of course, your spare parts would have to be installed by the Ruger factory anyways, so you're probably not really gaining anything by just buying the spares.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. This gun has never been fired. It was used in a holster factory for fitting. The firing pin was removed for safety reasons. I`m not sure what it needs. A local gunsmith says I need a firing pin and spring, which Ruger no longer supplies. I`ll call the # you gave and see about sending it in. The gun is a 100 year model, probably from the 70`s. Thanks Jerry:)

I have found Ruger to be horrible about sending out parts...though their repair department is spectacular. They are very liability concious. I am sure they will ask you to send the gun in for repair, on the bright side, it will be like new when you get it back.
