so irecently got a remington r1 1911 and only have got 50 rounds through it. dose anyone have this gun and what do you think of it. are there any complaints? thanks

I had the stainless R1 for about a year. I found it to be a very nice, fully functional 1911. Nice pistol.

I had one for several years and thought it was a handsome pistol and a nice shooter. Enjoy yours!

The only thing I could add is that mine must have been a different model from yours. Both the Remington and the R1 were spelled using a capital 'R'.

Well, he doesn't capitalize the starting letters of sentences or "I" either.

Anyway, I had an R1 and liked it just fine, except for the fact that a full-size 1911 just doesn't fit me well (I'm a small-statured guy with small hands), so I eventually sold it. I had a couple failures to feed early on, but that sorted itself out. Otherwise, no complaints.

My best friend bought one, didn't like the trigger and put a Videki trigger in it. He likes better now. I've shot it and like it very much.

My only bone to pick with the current Remington 1911's are that they are a series 80 1911. Some guys prefer the extra safety feature but I don't. That's about all I can say about them.

I have a Remington R1 that I have been shooting in Wild Bunch. I got it when they first came out and have put thousands or rounds through it. It has been a great performer. Have not had a malfunction of any kind.

A friend of mine works at Remington. He did some of the testing on the early prototypes and the first production run of the R1. He said he never thought in a thousand years he would say "I'm am tired of shooting". His job was to test fire every pistol. Three mags, three rounds each times thousands. And he can't even take the brass home.

I will tell him you like his work. He works on a military contract now.

I have an R1 Enhanced and a Dan Wesson Heritage. I like the Heritage a bit better but the Rem is equally as smooth and is a very nice gun. Gun Tests gave the R1 an A when they first tested it, and that does not happen very often. The R1 can be had at some very good prices for a mostly USA made gun. At least I think it is mostly USA made. One never knows these days.

If they fire three mags through each gun, after sale problems should be close to zero. Ruger once (not sure about today) fired every gun one cylinder or one magazine, and said doing so almost eliminated repair returns.

Of course when I mentioned that before, I got a blast from someone who said, in effect, "how dare the factory fire MY gun, I'll never buy another Ruger they are worn out at the factory" and on and on. You just can't please some folks.

I have two 1911's. A Colt Gov't Model and a Remington R1S. The Remington compares well with the Colt. It's a fantastic weapon
