after field stripping the weapon for the first time, im having trouble getting the bolt stop pin all the way back up into the reciever ...the frame is lined up and everything...i followed the ruger assembly instructions on the site but it didnt work! andthing dumb im doing wrong?

Search this forum, or try one of the Ruger forums. I don't recall having this exact problem, but I know that reassembly can be tricky. ANd the instructions on the Ruger site leave out some of the "tricks" to get the darn thing back together.

Don't know if you ever found the answer but I recently bought one of the old Standards, and the trick in putting the mainspring housing back in is understanding that the hammer has to be forward and the pin that drives the hammer has to fit into the depression in the mainspring (in the center of the mainspring housing). When all is aligned properly it goes right back in position, no sweat. You may have to hold the barrel pointed up at a 45 degree angle to align the pin...but with a little patience and practice it's a piece of cake.
