I have a hornady bullet ogive comparator but not a case comparator.

Sorry, just saw this in your post. All you need are the bushings for the cases. They use the same attachment as the bullet comparators.

Winchester says this lot is a few years old. I probably got them at a retail store in my massive restock after the last big shortage. They're going to arrange for hazmat shipping back to their shop to evaluate.

They have had no issues with my other lots so I will load those up.

I've used WLR primers for 7mm08, 308 and 7.62x54R, some loads that were somewhat over pressure (in careful tests) and never had the problem you're having -- so I bet this is a manufacturing probloem and probably rare.

What little I have read online about primers has always said that people have no problems with Winchester LR primers.

A defect in primer cups can happen in any brand. Mine were Rem. 9 1/2 years ago. Not a common problem. If not a defect in the cup, then high pressure is causing leakage between the brass and the primer. The results look the same. 270WSM2.jpg 270WSM3.jpg WLRDefect.jpg Been on the internet many times, nothing new, sorry to say. :)
