Would You buy a Winchester 1894 made in Russia? I never would I'd rather have them not make it at all, I just wanted to see what other people think about this.

Sure. I'd buy a Remington-made Mosin Nagant if I could afford one, so why not a Russian Model 94?

But why are you asking. Did I miss something? Is there even a such thing as a Russian-made Model 94?

As long as it's in good condition, I'd buy it. It would be a great collector's piece and I have tons of 7.62x54R to feed it with. All this talk of it being 'un-American' is pure nonsense. The Russian contract rifles were made in the US and shipped to Russia.

So there's nothing 'un-American' about them at all. If you don't want them, then fine...more for me :D.

i brought up the 1895 as something i would be interested in made by almost anyone so long as its under the REDICULOUS prices i see for american made modern reproductions
 
I have mixed opinions when it comes to Russian products. Quality wise they usually seem to be pretty good, (with the exception of some stuff produced at the height of WW2), and they tend to be extremely rugged. Ergonomics wise, they really suck. Whether it's Mosin safeties or crazy offset scopes that make cheek or even chin welds impossible, there just seems to be no concept of human engineering. Now if they were copying an American product, I'd be interested, but from what I've seen the Russians aren't particularly into copying others products. I'm sure they have done it in the past, but building cheap copies of others innovations seems to be more a specialty of the Chinese.

As far as it being unAmerican? Why would it be any worse than buying a Saiga? It's just a gun.
 
I'd rather buy a good copy than support a crappy manufacturer on the sole basis of nationalism.

If it's one of those, sure. If it isn't, then no, unless they're the only people making them, and they aren't made in Bakail like those Spartan shotguns.

I agree. I have never been disappointed with any of my Russian made firearms.

What reproduction is that, the Winchester 1895 made now and recently is made by Browning/Miroku in Japan.
 
Nothing wrong with the quality of Russian firearms they build solid ones that work both civilian and military models.

The wood may not always be fancy grade Walnut and the stock may not fit like a nice hand made custom rifle or shotgun but they do not build crappy guns just the opposite IMO.

It had been said Japan exports Sony's and Toyota's America exports Coca Cola and McDonalds and Russia exports Kalashnikovs.:evil:

Now days it seems Russia exports small arms and ammunition Japan exports electronics and automobiles and the USA exports raw materials and jobs.:banghead:

If Winchester 94s were made again it would help lower the cost of the US made ones a little and it would allow US shooters to once again have the Winchester 1894 in production and available at reasonable prices.

I would rather see them built here in the USA but like the 1860 1873 and 1892 Winchesters having them produced off shore is better than not having any produced at all.
