I know that if you did a search for the word "makarov" you could find a great deal of the info you are seeking.
And it might be of good use to you to clarify with your grandmother as to if the gun was actually a .380acp or if it was the more common 9x18mm (aka 9mm makarov).
If I was looking to buy a .380 mak/mak clone, I'd be trying to find a CZ83.
The .380 Russian Makarovs did come in both 9x18 and .380, and had adjustable sights. They can be found occasionally on gunbroker.com, but most all are now "used". They even had a 10-12 round high capacity one, in addition to the standard 8-round guns.
Have both russian maks in 9x18 and 380. The 380 is a touch more comfortable to shoot and while I really like the 380 round the 9 x 18 holds a place with me. It does not take long to find some NIB pistols in either caliber and the prices certainly aren't bad. I also have the CZ82(9x18) and CZ83(380) not much difference between these two although they are definitely superior to the Mak pistol.
If the Mak is what is comfortable and familiar than search one out and enjoy some time at the range.
