Thanks to the good work of the GA contingent, we're having an extra-special Appleseed this November 11-12 in Georgia.

For those of you who are not familiar with the area, our shoot will be held very near the remains of Camp Toccoa, where the 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne Division was born and trained. The 506th PIR is, of course, the unit upon which HBO's "Band of Brothers" was based.

The camp today is a pine forest, but the streets of the old facility are marked with signs, including the camp gate where Col. Robert Sink used to start with his men on the famous "three miles up, three miles down" morning runs up nearby Currahee Mountain.

In town, there's a museum re the Airborne unit, and at the summit of the mountain itself is a perfect place to have our Sunday morning remembrance/assembly.

Running is, of course, optional.

Significantly, "Currahee" is a Cherokee word meaning "stands alone", and in the following excerpt from the Ambrose book (at p. 33), Col. Sink reminded the newly-minted paratroopers of that fact, and their sacred obligation to each other:

"Remember our battle-cry and motto - 'Currahee,' and its meaning: 'standing alone.' We stand alone together."

We stand alone - together.

Sounds like Appleseed to me.

See you in Georgia on Veteran's Day weekend.

Thanks, Cabinboy.

Sounds like a real good opportunity to celebrate our heritage and exercise our Second Amendment guarentee's.

Really hope the locals (America SE) take advantage and come on out to demonstrate the Dixie marksmanship.

Shouldn't have any troubles getting folks to keep all shots in a 1" (4MOA) impact at 25 M/yards. :neener:

Let us know how it turns out!

Well, I'll be celebrating Veterans Day by volunteering as an instructor at the Toccoa, GA Appleseed event.

After all of the Democrat doom/gloom I've been reading for the last 2 days, it will be very refreshing to get out on the range with some newly awakened American Patriots and assist them in developing their skills as Riflemen.

In addition to getting gun owners to the range to practice basic rifle marksmanship skills, these events also tend to wake people up, getting them into action for the cause of liberty.

It's very motivating and inspiring to spend a weekend on the range with Americans who recognize the need for skill development, awareness of the issues and solidarity with other like minded Patriots.

That and the glorious music of 30 or so battle rifles booming on the range during the rapid fire strings :D

Hope to see you there!
