I was looking into building a .45 and decided to read through the frame and slide section of the clinic, before making a purchase. I am not as good a machinist as an armorer, read I can swap parts but the Idea of lapping a frame and slide is daunting.
So here is one Question....
Should I buy an RIA to work with, and work up from, or the Frame and Slide Kit from Sarco?
here's another...
I have heard about a little trick of dawbing the slide with jewelers rouge and firing 3 or 4 boxes of rounds then detail cleaning and reassembling.
Does this have any merit for getting the frame and slide to work better together?
Last question, whats the point of expanding the ejection port? If the weapon is not ejecting properly isn't it an ejector or an extractor not funtioning?
I haven't owned a 1911 for awhile for various reasons, but I really miss the 1991 I had.
