Wow, that is cool! Someone took an N-frame (probably an M1917) and sleeved it for .22. Sounds like something Id do if I had oodles of money to burn.😊
That was my thought as well. An m1917. At one time they were dirt cheap. Whoever did the work did a great job. The only nonstandard marking besides the engraving is the name Melvin in the top of the T grip.
 
A no holds barred surplus conversion. Done a long time ago to have King sights.
I wouldn't have shortened the barrel so much but otherwise it is a jewel.
Yeah, DW King’s San Francisco shop closed after he died in 1945. My 1930’s vintage Colt Officers Model Heavy Barrel was modified by DW King. It has a widened hammer spur rather than the distinctive “cockeyed” spur, and the front sight doesn’t have the mirrored insert, but the rest is all King. :thumbup:
