S&W 325 PD Failure to Fire

:) I'm all for the exchange of wheely info. If it wasn't for the Fuff, I wouldn't have known about the EDM barrel making process that got me a M-617 minus 1/2 it's rifling! Barrel making is a craft to take pride in, not chuck out as many as you can.

Follow-up:

The first week of March, I finally sent the revolver back to Smith&Wesson. I got the return shipment one month later. Inside, the note that came back indicated that they had replaced the entire frame and destroyed the old one.

Upon inspection, I suspect that they replaced the barrel as well. The original revolver had sharp edged on all the etched characters on the barrel and on the frame. The characters were also a golden color. The new revolver has much smoother characters that are all white.

I am anxious to get to the range and fire it to test functioning. It appears that the cylinder shake issues are much less than on the example I sent in, and it is a much tighter fit at the rear of the cylinder when loading. Additionally, the firing pin appears to produce a fraction more. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed until I get a chance to test it.

Thanks all for your advice regarding warranty work.

Russ

I suspect that after they removed the barrel they discovered that the original crush fit had damaged the frame's threads beyond repair. After that all they could to is replace the frame too. It is hard to believe that both a defective frame and barrel got out in the first place, but it seems possible. :uhoh:
