I'm considering a 4 inch S&W 325. I have a 4 inch 625 and like it alot.
I have shot Alloy 1911 Commanders, they were fine to shoot.
Anyone here own and shoot a 325? I'm guessing recoil is about like
A K Frame .357.
Any input would be helpful.
I'm not even sure what I need it for. IDPA or a lightweight carry gun when i'm not feeling rosy.
I might be better off just getting another 4 inch 625.

I owned a 4" 325PD and recently sold it. The gun was accurate and reliable. The recoil will give your shooting hand a good smack with wood grips. I had installed one of the Hogue rubber grips that cover the backstrap and are available from S&W, and it made a big difference. For an everyday carry gun the weight is ideal even though the size is pretty big (N frame). I now have an all steel N frame .45ACP and I prefer the heavier gun.

I don't have the 4" version, but I've been shooting this 2.75" for over 2 years.

My usual reloads generate 4 lbs. recoil in my 4" 625. The same load (50 fps slower from the shorter barrel) generates 6 lbs. recoil in the 325.

It's manageable, but I do tend to limit myself to a couple boxes of ammo at a time.

Good Luck...

I love mine P1110190.jpg I changed the front sight and grips. I also shoot 185 gr reloads out of it so a little more manageable I think b/c it gets out of that short barrel pretty fast. I have never seen a 4" 325
