S&w 325pd

A local gun shop has a new S&W 325PD on clarence for $700, $742 after adding sales tax.

Is this a good price? Any wisdom on this gun that anyone can share? I'm not sure how pratical it is, being a snubnose N frame.

The price doesn't sound out of line to me.The one thing you might want to check, is the cyl stainless or Sc and does it need need moon clips.
I'm not sure what the 'Night Guard (?)' seriuos run, but look at them and then compare prices

I have had a 325PD for several years. It is the model with the scandium frame and titanium cylinder. I use it with moon clips and auto rim. It has been reliable and I carry it concealed at times in a IWB holster or a OWB. it is light enough to be comfortable but it is pretty bulky. I am about 6'3" and 270lbs so I can conceal it without too much trouble. With standard 230 gr. loads, it can be a handful. I have been shooting many years and recoil doesn't bother me too much. I don't find the 4" 500 too bad. On the other hand I once shot a box of 240 gr. .44 mag from a 329PD and my right hand was too injured to shoot with for over a month. The 325PD I have is nothing like that. If you put a set of Decellerators on it, it is pretty tame.

I like mine. I think it is a very useful gun. It has a short barrel and so bullet expansion is iffy but it is .45 caliber so that's not too critical. I prefer revolvers and it is my answer to the short barreled 1911 with an alloy frame. The moon clips make it very fast to reload.

So far as the price goes, I have seen a couple around this part of Virginia for less used but not a great deal less. I don't see used ones around here very often. Good luck with it....

The price sounds pretty good; I have seen one locally for $839.00 new. I have never shot one, but I am intrigued by the gun. The only concern I might have is how well the scandium/titanium alloy set up will weather the years. I like the size, even if it is an N frame gun, thus bulky. I would like to have one, and if funds allow, I may eventually buy one...

I have had my 325PD about 4 years I believe. I have fired a couple thousand rounds of factory loads and hand loads and it has held up fine. I just make sure to clean the titanium cylinder properly without any abrasives. I expect that like any other good quality revolver, with proper ammunition and care, it should last indefinitely...
