Hello all -

I have come across a S&W 38 Special, CTG. The last patent date on the top is Sept 14, 1909. The serial number is 162120, 162160, or 162180 - hard to tell. Anyone have an idea of what year and model this is?

Thanks,
Shawn

Welcome to The High Road. :)

The listed patent date, serial number and cartridge marking would indicate that you have a Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector, Military & Police Model 1905; 3rd. chg.

These were manufactured between 1909 to 1915, in a serial number range running from 146,900 to 241,703. Standard barrel lengths were 4 and 6 inches, in blue or nickel plated finishes. The serial number should be stamped on the back of the cylinder and flat on the bottom of the barrel, above the ejector rod, as well as the butt.

Yes, a photograph would help confirm the above information.
