S&W 38 Special

I've got a 38 special and not sure of the year. The serial number is 608106, blue steel, 4 inch barrel, fixed sights. Any help would be appreciated, such as year of manufacture, type of ammo, etc.

Glynn, read the thread in this section titled "s & w 38 special ctg." That thread will give you an idea of the additional information needed to answer your questions. We need to know the manufacuturer (Colt, Smith and Wesson?), other markings on barrel and frame. A picture is very helpful.
