Have a 39-2 with a broken thumb decocker and now have the replacement part!! I've been told its easy to change out but would like some sort of directions or visual to guide me....any help out there???

Greg

What part was broken, the safety itself or the sear release lever? The latter is easy enough if you know how to strip the pistol. The former is a little tougher, involving removal of the rear sight and firing pin.

the left side thumb lever broke off in half, about half of it is still there. Been told to replace the entire piece. Hope this helps decribe my situation.

Push the rear of the firing pin with a punch as far as possible.

Clamp the nose of the firing pin with a pair of locking pliers or hemostats.

Turn the safety half way between fire and safe.

Push the right side of the safety into the slide and pull it out the left side.

Push the new safety lever in place.

Release the firing pin.

Done.
