Anybody know the difference between the current 3913LS and the pre-rail 3913's that are no longer made, other than the obvious grey grips and 'Ladysmith' script?

I'm not sure if the 3913LS is currently made either, but it's on the S&W website.

I'm thinking about picking up a 3913, just trying to decide if the LS is worth a look versus a used non-rail 3913...

Thanks!

only difference is the shape of the dustcover. s&w used to make one with the slanted cover without the ladysmith logo too. i think it was a 3913nl

The frame dust cover (lower front portion) is more upswept on the LS, the slide has a different bevel to match the frame, and the safety is single-sided.

There are a couple of other interesting variations: the NL (Non Ladysmith?), a LS without the inscription; and a 3914LS, an all black Ladysmith. I like my own LS very much, and I don't care what it says on it. :neener:

Thanks Lone Haranguer, very helpful post.

So the LS is every bit a 3913, and should have all the reliability and balance these underrated single-stacks are known for?

Were the ones from the 1990's any better?

Is the LS still in production, or is the only new one the TSW?

I bought one used a year or so ago With the angle dust cover. It doesn't say LS any where. For a 9mm it is accurate, relieable and a nice carry pistol.
It is only 9mm I will carry ,of the few I have. If I find another used one at reasonable price I will pick it up . Wife is eyeing mine after finding it.

Very reliable and accurate guns, my wife loves hers, it's the already mentioned 3914 ...
She must have the other one. ;) I saw one at a gun show a while back and was surprised, not having heard of this model. With an asking price of $360 I should have bought it. :banghead:
