Some years ago at a gun show, I handled a small S&W 9mm that resembled a 3913 except that it had a double-stack magazine. What gun was that?

Given that description, it was a 6906: 3.5" bbl, alloy frame/stainless slide, TDA, 12-round mags (will also take factory 15- and 20-rounders).

They're very nice guns. There have been a lot of police trade-ins on the market for cheap, but they get snatched up fast.

Here is my 6906:

Have 1 of those myself with the factory 12 rounders. Very reliable to say the least. Unfortunately I always hit low with the factory novaks (tried ammo switching but didn't help much). If I can find adjustables (if they are made) that will raise my point of impact it will be my primary CCW.

I love my 6906. Just put Hogue grips on it, and like it even more now.
Many Police trade-ins to be had for $270-$300. Great pistol, great value.

Thanks! That's definitely the one. I really liked the one I examined but didn't have the money at the time to purchase it. Too bad . . .

It doesn't look like the Hogues added any thickness to the grip, however the Hogues did seem to make the grip feel a little thicker. I think this is only due to the finger grooves in the front. It did not seem to affect the concealability at all.

Also,

A place called "Old Sacramento Armoury" has (had?) them for $269 in excellent condition with a Don Hume holster & double mag pouch. Tel (916) 446-2737.
