I'm going to add a .40 S&W to my collection and am leaning heavily towards a CZ 40-p (NOT Rami) but have seen good prices on police trade S&W 4006. The magazines for the CZ seem to be a bit pricey at $36 ea but I have heard many good things about them. Any thoughts would be greatly appraciated!

The only experience I've had with a CZ has been with my CZ85B and the jury is still out on that one (haven't shot it enough yet to have an opinion). On the other hand, I've had a lot of time behind third generation Smiths and can tell you that they are boringly reliable and, imo, very under-rated.
I will say that, at least in my hands, nobody makes a better handling pistol (in terms of overall ergonomics) than CZ does. Also, I've been able to find new, 9mm factory mags for under $20.00 (CDNN is one source) but I don't know about .40 cal. mags.

My son carries a CZ40P as his CCW. He loves it and he has over 40 handguns to choose from.

CZ 40 P

I bought a CZ 40 P about two weeks ago and love it. It is one fine shooting, accurate pistol. Thinking about buying the 380 Thunder CC

I have a new cz40p and have only put a couple hundred rounds through but it has never malfunctioned. I just wish they were more info on them from other owners about the durbility and reliabilty in the long run with them. I am actually thinking of trading it for a Glock 19 because they are a proven stone cold reliable gun and I purchased this one just for the big shtf in case that ever happens and all my other guns are small 2 inchers.

As for the 4006 my buddy has one and gets 3-4 ftf for every 100 or so rounds and it isn't as accurate as my 40p he claims.

I have 8 3rd gen S&W's some as long as 20 years. I have never had a malfunction with any of them to include the excuses (ammo & magazines). I own several makes of handguns, but when the poop hits the fan it will be a S&W in my hand. As a LEO I dumped the 1911's of the time for a S&W 645 that I could count on.

I had one of the original CZ-40's and the thing was awesome. Double taps were easy and the gun fit my hand like a glove.

I traded/sold it:banghead: in one of my moments of gottahavesomethingelseitis, and sometimes still miss it.

Put another 150 rounds through it today and 100 were rapid fire just to try to get a jam. So thats 350-450 rounds without a hiccup so it may be a keeper after all.
