S&W 500: Shoot or Not?

Just the weekend before I shot a classic Ruger Blackhawk in .44mag.

Had no problems with it, and it wasn't my first time to shoot one.

But with the band gig in a matter of hours and being indoors, I just didn't want to shoot it at the time.

Did everyone watch this?

My friend and I had the exact same experience as the OP recently. We were at a range and neither of us had ever fired one and someone there offered for us to fire his. I took him up on it because I always have an interest in shooting new guns. I shot it once and it was accurate but miserably uncomfortable. I would not enjoy shooting it regularly. It took several minutes of convincing to talk my friend into shooting it. He did and was shocked at the huge kick.

Again, a novelty and not a plinker.

Awe man... bummer. I would want to shoot the thing, but I believe you made the right decision if you had to play that night.

Oh, and nice vid of Gunny

I have been shooting my non-ported 4 inch 500 Mag for 5 years now, and my BFR in 500 Mag for 6 years. I would never pass up a chance to shoot one... I have over 6000 rounds fired in all of my 500 Mags, and my wrists are just fine..
