I can't think of anything on one to break.

We had frames crack on low round count 659's that can no longer be repaired. S&W at best will give a discount on an M&P as the parts are not available any longer. 669's also had the problem. They start around the slide stop cuty in the frame. Keep a check on it.

Sky-I read your concern about dropping the hammer using the decocker. I agree with the other posters that having an AD while using the decocker is a highly unlikely event but if you want further assurance you can try what I use.
Go to Home Depot and get an a steel garbage can and a few bags of sand. Put the can in the corner of the garage and fill with 2 1/2 to 3 feet of sand. Now you have your own redneck clearing barrel. When you want to close the slide on a loaded chamber or decock a pistol just point the pistol at center of the can when you do. The sand will absorb that unlikely AD.
Helpful hint: When not in use put the top on the can or the cat will think its a public restroom.
Good luck with the 5906 it's an outstanding pistol.

Hey thanks for the idea on the round catcher. I am much more comfortable with the decocker now but in truth I still pull the trigger with the safety on and lower the hammer gently unless I am out doors or at the range; guess I am not much of a dry fire kinda guy~~watch me get flamed! Anyway it works for me and yes I do like the 5906 and have gotten so that my hit zone has improved out to a little past the barrel now!! Still not as good as the 1911 but honestly up to 25 yards and the occasional 50 yard pop the weapon is a keeper for me.
